Ouaga 2000 is a growing development in the capital of Ouagadougou that is planned to become the political and economic focal point of Burkina Faso for the next generation.  A new presidential palace, a 5-star hotel, beautiful homes and new embassies are all part of this impressive community that is an entirely different world from the rest of Burkina Faso.  Through God’s providence and provision, in 2003 the Alliance obtained property right in the heart of the development, and a cell group has been established.  The group’s burden is to open a ministry center to build bridges with Ouaga 2000’s influential leaders … meeting their needs for English classes, seminars, and ministries for children and youth.  By doing so, we plan to draw them toward a relationship with the missing element in their lives – Jesus Christ.

In June, 2007, we signed a purchase agreement for a building adjacent to our existing property.  The building will be renovated and serve as the base of our ministries as well as for housing for a missionary couple.  The final payment for the property, in the amount of $50,000, is due in early November.  In answer to prayer, God has provided remarkably for this purchase – in about 7 months time, nearly $225,000 of the $240,000 has been secured.  Costs for renovation of the existing building still need to be raised.
The Ouaga 2000 cell group members are leaders in development work, businessmen with contacts in the highest levels of government, highly trained computer technicians, and most importantly … people who love Jesus Christ.  As former Muslims or atheists, they long for a ministry location that will allow them to bring their colleagues and friends to Jesus, and we feel the need to help them make it happen.  The members have committed themselves to contributing tens of thousands of dollars, because they believe in a great God.

March 1, 2009 marked the first church service at Ouaga 2000 This is what the Clousers had to say the next day:

A Memorable Event
Today is a day to rest up from and bask in the beautiful official opening service we had for our new church here in Ouaga 2000 yesterday. We are feeling so blessed for all the support and love shown to us by our sister churches and our colleagues in ministry. We counted almost 175 people in attendance, which created a crowd that spilled out of our upstairs conference room onto the balcony. Among all of our honored guests, we had a retired president of Burkina Faso present, as well as the government Minister of Human Rights. You can see them in the picture sitting beside our church district president and our mission director.
