Ministries in Bobo Dioulasso

In August a very powerful chief died here in Bobo-Dioulasso. This man was
a primary “Chief of Traditional Customs” among the Bobo people. His funeral on Sunday is preceded this week by days of festivities and official
greetings by delegations from all over the city. There are people all over
town covered in leaves and bushes wearing masks and carrying sticks and
whips. Kiersten was shopping with Kenna and Laura in town when we saw more than ten masks. People on the street fled into doorways and shops as the masks passed with their whips. The fear is tangible and the darkness is palpable. The masks are physical representations of evil, spiritual powers.
Toby went to greet the family of the deceased chief, as we know a few
people related to him. While at the family’s house, Toby was shown a
picture of the dead body of the chief. Then, he was asked to pay money as a gift for the family for having shown him the picture. This man was a highly revered fetish practitioner. People were awed and scared of him.
Although this chief was very powerful in his life, in his death he has
nothing but eternal destruction. What a sad thing. So many people here in
Bobo-Dioulasso are lost in this same darkness that deceives them. We are
reminded again of the darkness that covers these people without Christ.
Jesus came to rescue them from evil and from death. Pray with us that many, many people will come to know Jesus in this city and will be saved from the enemy of their souls.

We are happy to inform you of the safe arrival of twin girls for the family Hema, Emmanuel (Bamaki). They were born after just an hour of labor, at about 4.37 this morning for the first girl and 4.41 for the second girl. One weighed 5 lbs9 oz and the other 6 lbs 14 oz. We are very thankful for the Lord's goodness and help. Mother (Marthe) and babies are all fine. Grandma Nema was right there to welcome them.
